State Proclamations

Each year advocates from across the United States engage policymakers in their state about the importance
of colorectal cancer awareness. One way we do this is through state proclamations.

State Proclamations

Each year advocates from across the United States engage policymakers in their state about the importance
of colorectal cancer awareness. One way we do this is through state proclamations.

We continue to seek proclamations every March in all 50 states that declare March as Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Make your state part of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month this March by asking your governor to issue a state proclamation or letter of support!

2025 Progress

Has your state issued a 2025 Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month Proclamation?

How to Submit a Proclamation Request

Find your state’s proclamation deadline on our Proclamation Deadlines page. Be sure to submit your request within the timeframe specified!

Every state’s process is different, but we’ve got you covered! Most states require a letter explaining why it is important to recognize March as Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, sample language for the official proclamation, and information about colorectal cancer.

  • Once you’ve submitted your request, email advocacy@fightcrc.org with the update.
  • If you don’t hear from your governor’s office, follow up within two weeks to make sure they are making progress on your request.

When your proclamation has been accepted, it’s time to celebrate! Here’s a few ways you can do that:

  • Let us know your state has been secured by emailing us at advocacy@fightcrc.org.
  • Share a #StrongArmSelfie on your social media accounts with your proclamation, tagging @FightCRC. Don’t forget to add the hashtag #CRCAdvocacy so other advocates can interact with you!
  • Be sure to write to your governor’s office to thank them for being relentless champions for the colorectal cancer community.
