Advocates… Will You Be Our Valentine?

512px-Candy-hearts

Today we want to tell our advocates how much we LOVE you. Check out which candy heart messages our staff and some of our board members would give each of you…

VANESSA KURTZER – ANSWER LINE ASSOCIATE

The word I give our advocates is “Hero.”

NANCY ROACH – FOUNDER & CHAIR OF THE BOARD

The word I give our advocates is “Gratitude.”

The thing that I think when I see what our advocates are doing is GRATITUDE.  APPRECIATION.  THANKFULNESS.  I’m very proud that we’ve given our advocates a way to speak out and act PRODUCTIVELY – they aren’t just ranting and raving but they’re actually doing things that make a difference.

JERRI LYN – OFFICE MANAGER

The word I give our advocates is “Fight.”

DANA RYE – BOARD MEMBER

The message I give our advocates is “DC for Me.”

I can’t make it to Call-on Congress this year so I am counting on all of the other rockstars to carry the torch!

KIM RYAN – DIR. OF PATIENT INFORMATION SERVICES

The message I give our advocates is “I HOPE.”

“I hope for you everything YOU hope for you…”

ANDREA KRAMER – BOARD MEMBER

The message I give our advocates is “No Clue.”

As in “no clue” what Fight Colorectal Cancer would be without our advocates.

MICHAEL SOLA – VP OF OPERATIONS

The message I give our advocates is “Love Boss.”

I don’t really know why but when I saw props around my desk it made sense to be the “Love Boss”. I love my job and it’s the survivors, advocates and family that gets me up everyday!

EMILY WHITE – PROGRAM COORDINATOR

The message I give our advocates is “Thank You.”

We wouldn’t be the organization we are or make the impact that we have made without the involvement of our advocates–we quite literally could not do it without them. Each individual’s story goes such a long way, and having all of their voices combined gives us immeasurable strength. Thank you, advocates for being the voice in the fight against colorectal cancer!

SHAWNA SNYDER – COMMUNICATIONS INTERN

The word I give our advocates is “Dream.”

DANIELLE BURGESS – DIR. OF COMMUNICATIONS

The message I give our advocates is “Real Love.”

Something I’m continually humbled by within our advocate community is the passion and “real love” that each advocate has for one another … and for those that they’ve never met. So many are sharing their stories right now to inspire others and save lives. Our advocates willingly give their time, money and support to our events and activities because they believe in this cause so much, they will go to no end to find a cure. True love at its finest.

ANJEE DAVIS – INTERIM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR/VP OF PROGRAMS

I have three: “Hope,” “Courage,” and “Heroes”

My best friend, Anne Brady Carlson, lost her mom to colorectal cancer. Shortly after she lost her mother, she lost her father to cancer. She says she was orphaned by cancer. We met in our twenties when I moved to South Carolina. Fast friends, we locked hands and said let’s do something about this disease and we did. We raised over a million dollars. It took five years in South Carolina but we reached thousands working with the university to establish screening program awareness campaigns. Two girls with nothing to lose.

Then, I started working at Fight Colorectal Cancer. I consider it an opportunity of a lifetime to serve a community that is full of strength and courage. A community made up of people just like my friend. Anne Brady is always with me when I work on things pushing me to think like the young girls we were… with nothing to lose! Today, I have so many heroes who have courage and hope for a future without colorectal cancer.
