Patients & Survivors Stage III Rectal Cancer Virginia
Back to Champion Stories

Story: "I am a three-year rectal cancer survivor. I was diagnosed in January 2014 with stage IIIB. Since my diagnosis, I have had two reoccurrences. So far, I've had radiation therapy three different times, four surgeries, chemo at least three times, and am now taking a low dose of Xeloda maintenance chemo. I have a 12-year-old daughter and husband who I love dearly. I fight this fight so I can be here with them! Something I have started to say is I'm not Cancer Patient Jennifer, I am Jennifer, who happens to have cancer. I love my life and want to help others who face this battle!"

Advice: "Be your own advocate! Ask questions and look for answers, do not take the first response you get!"
