RACHEL'S STORY

I was anemic for a while, always pale, tired, I just thought it was my heavy menstrual cycles. My GYN also confirmed that it was my cycles. I had received a blood transfusion and was getting iron infusions. Eventually I had a CAT Scan that showed a mass in my cecum. I had a colonoscopy which revealed a large mass and had surgery the next day. Pathology showed Stage IIIB Cancer with 4/25 positive lymph nodes. Chemo for 6 months. Cancer free now.  I am 44 years old, no history of bowel issues, no family history. I want to share my story.

RACHEL'S ADVICE

Don't ignore anything. I was anemic, no bowel issues but just thought it was my heavy menstrual cycles which my GYN agreed with me. Stay positive . It's hard sometime,s but my positive attitude got me through the tough times. Take the help that so many people offer. I am divorced and single. I am independent and don't like to ask for help. I learned when I needed it to ask.
