Margo Beck Richmond, Virginia

Margo's Story

Once I turned 50 I thought I may as well get the ole colonoscopy scheduled.  I went in and expected to be released immediately but the doctor called me into a room, then and there I knew something was wrong. About three weeks later, I was in an operating room having 13" of my sigmoid colon removed and reconnected.  I had no signs, no symptoms and no family history of colon cancer. I am a walking, talking billboard for screenings now.  I don't care who asks, I will share my story.  Had I not taken the initiative to get the screening, I would be beyond the T1 cancer that I was diagnosed with.  No lymph nodes were affected thus no other organs involved.  I consider myself very lucky.
