Robb Kerr, one of the first patient advocates to be part of C3, the Colorectal Cancer Coalition, died at home in Nashville, Tennesee on September 29, 2008.

First diagnosed with advanced colorectal cancer in 2002, Robb was treated in many cancer clinical trials and became an ardent supporter of cancer research.  He was a mentor to other cancer patients considering clinical trials at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville. He also spoke out for the needs of people without health insurance and for universal health care. Read the rest of this entry »

Dr. Joel Tepper Honored with ASTRO Gold Medal

Dr. Joel Tepper

Joel E. Tepper, M.D., a member of the C3 Medical Advisory Network, has received the Gold Medal Award, the highest honor that the American Society for Radiation Therapy and Oncology (ASTRO) gives to its members. Medicare Premiums Unchanged in 2009

Premiums for Medicare Part B coverage for doctor visits and other outpatient costs will remain the same in 2009 as they are this year.  Participants will pay $96.40 each month.  The Part B deductible will also remain the same at $135. Read the rest of this entry »

Stage II and III Colon Cancer Patients Sought for Interviews

Research to Practice, a medical and patient education group, is looking for patients who have been recently diagnosed with either stage II or III colon cancer and are either receiving chemotherapy for their cancer or deciding whether or not to have chemotherapy.

Patient surveys will be used to understand patient perspectives as they make treatment decisions about chemotherapy after surgery and their experiences throughout chemotherapy and afterwards.  Information will be analyzed and presented to health professionals who work with colon cancer patients.
