Dr. Rona Yaeger Awarded AACR-C3 Fellows Grant
Rona Yaeger, MD is the 2010 Lisa Dubow Research Fellow, receiving the 2010 American Association for Cancer Research – Colorectal Cancer Coalition Fellows Grant.
The Award will be made tonight at a special dinner in honor of AACR Fellows Fund grantees.
Dr. Yaeger is from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Her grant research will focus on inhibiting the AKT pathway in colorectal cancer cells. Read the rest of this entry »
C3 Celebrates Five Years of Pushing for Change
Five years ago this March a spirited group of colorectal cancer advocates met in Washington to launch C3:Colorectal Cancer Coalition. Their goal: build a strong voice for change to wipe out suffering and death from colorectal cancer.
Led by Nancy Roach, C3′s founder and chair of the board of directors, the group set out to create an organization to help people concerned about colon and rectal cancer to advocate for change in policy, research, and awareness.
Most of all, C3 wanted to give those living with colorectal cancer the tools to advocate for themselves.

Advocates from All 50 States, DC, and Puerto Rico Butt-In to Congress
On March 30-31, 2010 advocates from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico called their Representatives in Congress, urging them to support the Colorectal Cancer Prevention, Early Detection and Treatment Act (H.R. 1189) during the annual Congressional Butt-In.
The Colorectal Cancer Prevention, Early Detection, and Treatment Act (H.R. 1189) will establish a program at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to provide colorectal cancer screenings and treatment for low-income, uninsured and underinsured individuals who are not eligible for Medicare.
Suzanne Lindley Writes About Her Call-on Congress Experience for Cure Magazine
Suzanne Lindley is living with stage IV colon cancer and recently traveled to DC to participate in the 2010 Call-on Congress in order to:
“Share my voice and experience for a disease that is preventable, treatable, and beatable. Advocates from across the country joined together wearing Cover Your Butt t-shirts and descended upon Capitol Hill to encourage legislators to support three legislative proposals that will help us win the fight against colorectal cancer.”
