C3 Submits Comments to the FDA’s Oncology Drug Advisory Committee

The Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Oncology Drug Advisory Committee (ODAC) is meeting today to discuss whether the labels for Erbitux (cetuximab) and Vectibix (panitumumab) should include a mention of KRAS testing. The discussion at the meeting will have implications for future development of companion diagnostics. C3 was dealt yet another blow in our fight against colorectal cancer. One of our advocates, Tina Kiser, passed away from this terrible disease over the weekend. I had the pleasure of meeting Tina at last year’s Call-On Congress. Her passion to end the pain and suffering felt by everyone touched by colorectal cancer was extremely visible in everything she did. Whether it was walking the halls of Congress or recruiting people to make phone calls during the Congressional Butt-In, Tina was determined to get things done.

C3 Advocate Robb Kerr Dies

Robb Kerr, one of the first patient advocates to be part of C3, the Colorectal Cancer Coalition, died at home in Nashville, Tennesee on September 29, 2008.

First diagnosed with advanced colorectal cancer in 2002, Robb was treated in many cancer clinical trials and became an ardent supporter of cancer research.  He was a mentor to other cancer patients considering clinical trials at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville. He also spoke out for the needs of people without health insurance and for universal health care. Read the rest of this entry »
