Registration Open for MD Anderson SCOPE Run

SCOPE Run logoLast year over 1,500 people ran or walked to defeat colorectal cancer during the MD Anderson SCOPE Run for Colorectal Cancer in Houston.

Registration is now open again to run or walk as part of the sixth annual Sprint for Colorectal Oncology Prevention and Education (SCOPE) on March 26, 2011.

The SCOPE Run raises awareness of colorectal cancer, promotes education about the disease, and celebrates survivorship. Read the rest of this entry »

Join Us at the NBC4 Health & Fitness Expo This Weekend in Washington, D.C.

The Colorectal Cancer Coalition is excited to be exhibiting at the 18th Annual NBC4 Health and Fitness Expo this weekend in Washington, D.C.  The NBC4 Health and Fitness Expo is the largest free consumer health event in the country.

The Expo will take place on Saturday, January 15, 2011 and Sunday, January 16, 2011 from 9am to 5pm at the Washington, D.C. Convention Center in Halls B & C.  The Coalition will be exhibiting with Olympus America at booth 1207.

The Coalition is grateful to Olympus for extending an invitation to exhibit with them at this year’s Expo.  Olympus recently launched the “Find it First” campaign which addresses the importance of early detection by encouraging individuals to commit to be screened for colorectal cancer.

Stars, Networks Stand Up To Cancer Tonight

Tonight, September 10 at 8PM Eastern/7PM Central, ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX will join in a simultaneous broadcast to Stand Up to Cancer. HBO, Discovery Health, E!, MLB Network and The Style Network will also carry the show this year.

New Software Reduces Radiation from Virtual Colonoscopy

Radiologist doing CT ColonographyComputer software designed to sharpen blurry images makes lower radiation doses possible for abdominal CT scanning, including CT colonography.so-called virtual colonoscopy.

The new technology may lessen fears of excessive radiation exposure during CT colonography screening and make it safer and more acceptable to patients.

In a study of CT colonography, using the software let radiologists cut the amount of radiation in half and still get images that were as good as those seen at full strength. Read the rest of this entry »
