One Million Strong March

colon-cancer-march-nyc-2014We don’t let colon and rectal cancer rain on our parade!

The One Million Strong March is an event creating awareness of colorectal cancer while raising funds at the same time. Each event highlights the stories of survivors, caregivers and loved ones who’ve faced colorectal cancer. We join together and march down the streets, getting loud and demanding a cure for colorectal cancer.

The One Million Strong March is a unique way to introduce the cause to any community and get your friends and family members involved.

Why March?

If you’re looking for a way to support the cause, consider attending or hosting a One Million Strong March! Anyone of any age, and any fitness level, can participate! When you attend a One Million Strong March you will:

  • Raise public awareness of the second-leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S. among men and women
  • Engage entire communities to “march for the cause” together
  • Fundraise for the fight against colorectal cancer
  • Celebrate your fight as a survivor or caregiver
  • Honor someone who’s fought
  • Remember someone you’ve lost
  • Fight for a cure for colorectal cancer

What are the key elements of a One Million Strong March?

Each event takes on its own flavor based on the personality and goals of the planner. It can be as big or small as you’d like!

Here are a few key components of each One Million Strong March:

  • A pre-determined beginning & end location of where the March (a parade) will take place
  • Men, women and/or children who ride/walk/run in the March
  • Creativity – decorate signs and encourage participants to wear BLUE clothing and accessories
  • A public celebration at the end of the March, such as a blue balloon launch or ceremony recognizing accomplishments of the event
  • An option to receive donations at the March and/or for participants to do fundraising as they sign up to march
  • (not required) Many communities host a health fair/awareness activity following the parade
