Catherine Knowles Joins C3 as Director of Policy

C3:Colorectal Cancer Coalition welcomes Catherine Knowles as its new Director of Policy.  She joins the C3 staff on September 21.

Before coming to C3, Catherine was Legislative Counsel to Congresswoman Kay Granger of Texas where she had responsibility for health care issues in addition to matters involving social security, education, labor, and small business.

While working with Congresswoman Granger, she created and wrote Representative Granger’s Congressional Health Update, sent every other week to doctors and health care professionals in the Congresswoman’s district.

She was responsible for assisting the Congresswoman in her work a co-chair of the Congressional Study Group on Public Health, the Prevention Caucus and the Community Health Centers Caucus.  She advised the Congresswoman in her role as a Commissioner on the Center for Strategic and International Studies Commission on Smart Global Health Policy.

Before joining the Representative Granger’s office, Catherine worked for Representative Zach Wamp (R-TN).  In addition to her Capitol Hill experience, she worked for the Federal Communications Commission and the National Telecommunications & Information Administration, as well as two District of Columbia law firms.

She has her law degree from Indiana University School of Law and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Boston University.

At C3 she will be responsible for supporting the work of C3 grassroots advocates and working with members of Congress to push for legislation that strengthens colorectal cancer prevention, treatment, and research. She will also help C3 build relationships with federal and state agencies that can lead to earlier and better prevention and treatment of colorectal cancer.

Her experience and talent will do much to make sure that every American has access to colorectal cancer screening and that research funding and policies reduce the burden of colorectal’s suffering for patients and their families.

As patients, advocates, and staff, we’re delighted she is with us.
