Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States—help us change that number!
Screening for colorectal cancer saves lives by allowing you to:
- Find and remove polyps before they become cancerous—which prevents colon cancer from ever developing.
- Find cancer at an early stage, when treatment is most successful—colorectal cancer can be successfully treated more than 90% of the time when detected early.
However, insurance companies are not required to cover the cost of colorectal cancer screening at a national level, and only 17 states have legislation that requires coverage of screening.
Tammie Kavan wants Nebraska to get screened!
Tammie is committed to getting Nebraska screened. Her first step is making sure that insurance companies in Nebraska are required to provide comprehensive screening—and she wants to be sure that Nebraska law will cover future science-based screening options as well.
Tammie has given talks, written letters and even had a colonoscopy to get the word out about this critical legislation:
- Lincoln Journal Star: Colon woman raises awareness of colon cancer
- Omaha World Herald: Rainbow Rowell: Cancer fight puts spotlight on Colon
Can you help Tammie get Nebraska screened? Help us push—help Tammie!
