Rep. Burgess is the Vice Chair of the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health. The Energy and Commerce Committee is one of the most powerful Committees in the House of Representatives. It oversees a wide range of issues that affect the health, safety and commerce of the American people.

After spending nearly three decades practicing medicine in North Texas, Representative Burgess was first elected to Congress in 2002. Because of his medical background, Dr. Burgess has been a strong advocate for health care legislation aimed at reducing health care costs, improving choices, reforming liability laws to put the needs of patients first, and ensuring there are enough doctors in the public and private sector to care for America’s patients and veterans. He has played an important role in bipartisan efforts to ensure the safety of food, drugs, and consumer products, and has introduced legislation to strengthen our ability to stop dangerous products from coming into the country.

During our Grassroots Advocate Chat Dr. Burgess will be providing us with an overview of what the Committee will be doing this year. Register today to get the call-in details for what is sure to be an informative discussion.
