Proposal Would Allow People 55-64 to Buy In to Medicare

Senate Finance Committee Chair, Max Baucus (D-MT), has proposed a health care overhaul plan that would allow U.S. residents ages 55 to 64 to buy into the Medicare system. The provision calls for a higher monthly premium for beneficiaries younger than age 65, but would offer the same benefits. Baucus said the buy-in option would remain available until the government develops a more comprehensive plan to address health care reform. Read the rest of this entry »

House Passes FY 2009 Spending Bill

The House of Representatives passed the FY 2009 omnibus spending bill on Wednesday, February 25. The Senate will consider the bill the week of March 2, 2009. The Continuing Resolution that is funding most of the federal government expires on March 6, 2009, so action must be completed by week’s end. Read the rest of this entry »
