C3 expands its news and events page

Posted by Kate Murphy on September 9th, 2005

In an effort to provide our C3 website visitors with the latest colorectal cancer news and information, we’ve developed a system that enables us to post new messages to C3 News and Events quickly and easily. C3 has asked me [Kate Murphy](mailto:kate.murphy@c-three.org) to manage this service.

Each day I’ll be scouring the web for new information both from the popular media and medical publications and posting it here, providing links for more details. In addition, we will cover activities of interest to colon cancer patients, caregivers, and advocates.

Watch for

+ Links to online newspaper or magazine articles or television reports.
+ Reader-friendly reviews of medical journal articles and other professional resources with links to the original references.
+ Announcements of conferences, meetings, and other events in the colorectal cancer field that will include links for readers to learn more or register.
+ Opportunities for advocates to help C3 meet our **MISSION** *to reduce the death and suffering due to colorectal cancer.*

Moveable Type©, the software that drives this new effort, has a powerful search engine so that you will be able to find information in our archived messages. Also, we’ll be structuring our posts in *categories* so if you want to find all the messages that relate to a particular interest or concern you have, it will be simple to do.

In addition, you’ll be able to enter *comments* on individual messages to express an opinion or add to its information. Two points about comments.

1. Comments are moderated so some comments may not be published, particularly if they are off the subject, rude, or spam.

Our goal is to provide solid, evidenced-based information in a safe and supportive setting.

2. We cannot answer individual medical questions sent as comments. We don’t have the resources and we don’t know *you* or your medical situation.

Discuss any information that you find here with your own doctor to help make decisions.

For several years I’ve been posting media news and research updates for colon cancer patients and their families at [Colon Cancer News and Research](http://cnews.blogspot.com). I’m leaving that site up if you want to find something in its archives, but I’ll no longer be posting to it. Instead, new entries will be here.

If you have news to share, a clinical trial that needs participants, or a link to new colorectal cancer information just email me [Kate Murphy](mailto:kate.murphy@c-three.org).

I’m excited about this new opportunity to bring you the latest information in the field of colorectal cancer. I hope you’ll join me — reading it regularly and making comments.
