Cancer patients who have been forced to move because of Hurricane Katrina can find a radiation oncologist who is able to continue their treatments. ASTRO — the American Society for Therapeutic Radiation and Oncology — has a web page with a list of radiation oncologists who have volunteered to help patients displaced by the storm.
They also have a toll-free telephone line, staffed from 8 to 5, Central time, to connect radiation oncologists who are unable to to provide patient care because of the storm to those physicians who are taking over the care of their patients.
