C3: Colorectal Cancer Coalition Advocates Sean Twersky, Christine Niemi, Florence Kurttila and C3 Board member Andy Giusti will be attending the Stand Up to Cancer broadcast on Friday night, September 5 at 8 pm (Eastern) simulcast on NBC, ABC, and CBS. They’ll be wearing Cover Your Butt t-shirts to encourage legislation to remove financial barriers to colorectal cancer screening and prevent colorectal cancer.
Photos of C3 Advocates and their activities will also be part of the program.
Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C) is a broad collaborative effort by celebrities, scientists, advocates, and everyday Americans to fight back against cancer. Money will be raised to support cutting-edge cancer research in new and better ways.
Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C) is a an unprecedented collaboration uniting the major television networks, entertainment industry executives and celebrities, and prominent leaders in cancer research and patient advocacy in a major new initiative to move groundbreaking cancer research out of the lab and into the clinic.
On Friday, September 5, at 8 pm/7 pm Central, more than 50 celebrities from television, film, sports, and music will appear in one Stand Up to Cancer performance broadcast over simultaneously on NBC, CBS, and ABC television.
Stand Up to Cancer will fund multidisciplinary “Dream Teams” to lead innovative translational cancer research projects that can be planned, funded and carried out without long, bureaucratic delays. Led by the American Association for Cancer Research and a blue-ribbon Scientific Advisory Committee, SU2C will pay for research that addresses critical patient needs and promises rapid patient benefit..
In addition, grants named for cancer pioneer Judah Folkman. will be made to young scientists studying new ideas that can lead to cancer breakthroughs.
C3 Board Chairperson, Nancy Roach is heading the SU2C Advocate Advisory Council, which will bring vital patient and family perspectives to the effort.
