C3 Board Chair Nancy Roach has been chosen Chairperson of the Stand Up to Cancer Advocate Advisory Council.
Key leaders of national cancer advocacy organizations, the Advocate Advisory Council provides the critical perspective of patients and families as SU2C research is chosen and carried out.
Talking about the importance of the work SU2C is planning, Roach said,
It’s exciting that Stand Up to Cancer will provide significant grants for translational research, the bench-to-bedside projects that have had a hard time getting funding. Decisions about which projects to fund will be made by scientists themselves, reviewing proposals to be sure that they are cutting-edge and well-designed. And advocates will be involved on the research “Dream Teams.”
Stand Up To Cancer will raise money to fund groundbreaking collaborative cancer research, bringing together the best and brightest scientists nationally and internationally to work on promising projects that will benefit patients and do so rapidly. On Friday, September 5 three major TV networks, NBC, ABC, and CBS will launch Stand Up to Cancer with a primetime, commercial-free simulcast featuring more than 50 celebrities from TV, film, sports, and music.
