Kellogg Removes Peanut Butter Crackers from Store Shelves

Salmonella Update

The Kellogg Company has put a hold on shipping its sandwich crackers with peanut butter.  It is removing them from retail store shelves and asks consumers not to eat them until further notice that their safety is assured.

Products affected include Austin® and Keebler® branded Toasted Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers, Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich Crackers, Cheese and Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers, and Peanut Butter-Chocolate Sandwich Crackers

Although there has not been any connection between the snack crackers and the current outbreak of Salmonella Typhimurium, the Peanut Corporation of America, focus of the current CDC investigation into the Salmonella outbreak, is one of the suppliers of peanut butter for the crackers.

Consumers with questions or who would like a product refund can call the Kellogg Consumer Response Center at 888-314-2060.

Babies, the elderly, and people with compromised immune systems, including cancer patients on chemotherapy, are at increased risk for severe Salmonella infections and their consequences.
