John Forsythe Dies of Colon Cancer

John ForsytheThe actor John Forsythe died April 1.

He was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2006 and had been battling the disease again over the past year.  His death was due to complications from pneumonia.  He was 92.

Best known for his role as oil tycoon Blake Carrington on Dynasty, which ran from 1981 through 1989, he began his career in the early 1940′s as a radio actor and moved into stage, film, and television.

He is survived by his wife Nicole Carter, a son and two daughters, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Shortly after his second wife Julie Warren’s death, Forsythe told a writer for TV Guide,

I always said life consists of love and work. I tried to balance it 50-50. And, of course, now I’m so happy I did.
