Advocacy in July – The March Momentum Continues

by Emily White, Advocacy Manager Our team spent three days last week in the hub of Washington, D.C. and stirred things up a bit!  We were joined by four of our amazing grassroots advocates: Jovannie Lorenzo (NJ), Patti Hollenback (PA), Bunny Terry (NM) and Debra Merritt (LA). Our schedule was so jam-packed with meetings that our staff had to split up in order to be so many places at one time!  Although we spent much of the trip apart, we all came together for one very important meeting on July 16—the 80% screened by 2018 stakeholder meeting that we co-hosted with the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN).

HELP US REACH THE NATIONAL SCREENING GOAL OF 80% OF AMERICANS 50 & OLDER SCREENED BY 2018! On July 16, the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Action Network and Fight Colorectal Cancer are co-hosting a stakeholder meeting and lobby day to push forward with this goal. This is the first opportunity for key colorectal cancer organizations and supporters to join together and bring their staff, volunteers and members to Washington, D.C. to meet with Congress to advocate for federal policies that will help us achieve our goal of 80% by 2018.
