Fight CRC’s Murphy to Present at CCA Conference

Fight Colorectal Cancer’s Director of Research, Kate M. Murphy will be joining a distinguished list of guest speakers at the Colon Cancer Alliance’s upcoming national conference this June in Denver, Colorado.  Her participation as a panelist will provide attendees with information on genetic risk factors and genetic testing, the importance of knowing your family history and an overview of HNPCC and FAP.  She will be joined by panelists from the American Cancer Society and the Patient Advocate Foundation during the conference’s opening session.

The Colon Cancer Alliance’s conference, “Family Matters: What Every Family Needs to Know,” is being held in Denver, Colorado from June 23-25, 2011.  Full and partial scholarships are available with an application deadline of May 13th. The event brings together experts from throughout the nation covering a wide range of topics such as genetic risks, designing a treatment plan, advanced disease treatment options and tips for living with colon cancer. SCOPE Run Registration Now Open

scopelogoRegistration for the Fourth Annual SCOPE Fun Run is now open.  SCOPE (Sprint for Colorectal Oncology and Prevention) takes place March 28th in Houston.

Sponsored by M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, SCOPE features both a 5K run and a 1K Kid’s Run.  Special events for cancer survivors will also be held that day. Read the rest of this entry »

Get Your Rear in Gear Kicks Off CRC Month In Lafayette, LA

lafayetteThe first of several community Get Your Rear in Gear races will be held in Lafayette, Louisiana on February 28, 2009 with a Kid’s  1 Mile Run at 8:00 a.m. following by a timed 5K Walk/Run at 8:30.

Get Your Rear in Gear events are overseen by the Colon Cancer Coalition to raise awareness of colorectal cancer in communities across the nation. They provide support and hope for those who have had their lives affected by the  nation’s second leading cause of cancer deaths and to encourage everyone to get screened for colorectal cancer. Make a Video to Encourage Screening

Diane Rehm Show to Discuss High Cost of Cancer Drugs

Two members of the C3 Medical Review Network will be featured on the Diane Rehm Show on Thursday, July 17, 2008 discussing the high cost of cancer care.  They are scheduled for the 11 a.m. segment (Eastern time).

  • Dr. John MarshallJohn Marshall M.D. is Chief of Hematology/Oncology at the Lombardi Cancer Center at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C.  He is a specialist in gastrointestinal cancer.
  • Dr. Neal MeropolNeal Merepol M.D. directs the Gastrointestinal Cancer Center at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadephia.
