Teri Griege

Director

In 2009, Teri Griege received a shocking diagnosis of Stage IV colorectal cancer that had metastasized to her liver. She was given a 6% chance of living 5 years. Like many cancer patients, Teri was devastated by the news. Yet, she found the strength and courage to not only fight cancer, but continue to train and compete in endurance events all over the world. Her greatest triumphs over cancer include; finishing the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii in 2011; completing the Six World Major Marathons; and competing in the Ironman 70.3 World Championship. Teri founded a non-profit foundation called Powered By Hope, whose mission is to inspire, recognize and support individuals affected by cancer. She travels the country as an Inspirational Speaker sharing her experiences, strength and hope. She has been featured on NBC’s Today Show, the St Louis TEDx talks, as well as numerous news outlets; national magazines including USA Triathlon, ESPN and Renew; and has received National and Local awards and recognition for her outstanding achievements. When she is not swimming, biking or running, you can find Teri volunteering or fundraising for many local and national organizations, such as: American Cancer Society, Pedal the Cause, Cancer Support Community and Fight Colorectal Cancer (CRC). She also serves on numerous boards and advisory committees, including: Go! St Louis, Pedal the Cause, Kids Rock Cancer, Patient and Family Advisory Council at Siteman Cancer Center, and most recently Fight CRC. Teri and her husband David reside in St. Louis, and have two grown children, Kyle and Kati.
