Cari Lopez

Survivor Pennsylvania “I was diagnosed at the age of 34. I am a mom, a wife, and a nurse. I had bleeding and like most moms attributed it to hemorrhoids. When I went to the doctor about my symptoms the doctor threw open the door, and declared “don’t worry it can’t be cancer you are too young. So don’t worry.” I had to wait a couple of months before I could have a colonoscopy that found stage II rectal cancer. As a nurse, I know the importance of education and knowledge is power. As a survivor I am always hoping for new advances in medications and genetic studies. I continue to battle cancer, because I plan on being here to raise both my daughters and grow old with my husband. I will never give up hope for a cure.”
