Welcome to Fight CRC eGuide with your monthly patient education resources and research news in colorectal cancer.

Podcast

Last month on the Taboo-ty Podcast, we continued our Ambassador Podcast Series with Episode 2: Kimberly Holiday-Coleman. Kimberly walked us through the true meaning of resilience, and described how powerful your perspective can be in the fight against colorectal cancer.

This podcast is essential listening for every human being regardless of their connection to CRC. Kimberly’s message is so universal and impactful that we are keeping it in the spotlight for one more month just so you all get a chance to listen for the first time, listen again, and share with everyone you can!

Webinars

New in October, we are joined by Dr. Colin Zhu, DO, DipABLM, a trained chef and health coach at the National Gourmet Institute for Health & Culinary Arts and Institute for Integrative Nutrition, to discuss the hot topic of gut health and share some cooking tips and tricks to keep your intestinal microbiomes happy! Click the link below to register for the webinar, and keep an eye out for the release of our fall issue of Beyond Blue that’s boiling over with diet and nutrition information!

Also, in case you missed it, September was Self-Care Awareness Month, and we re-shared one of our most popular webinars: Benefits of Stress Reduction: Mindfulness with additional video content and a brand-new Q&A from speaker Andrea Lee! How we think directly impacts how our bodies feel and react. Being present is so powerful when we live in a society of multitasking. Self-care always feels like something we “will get to when we have time.” We’re encouraging you to take that time for yourself and check out Andrea Lee’s webinar today!

Research Updates:

Don’t forget to visit our Blog page to stay on top of breaking news and read stories from our community!

Count Me In’s Colorectal Cancer Project launched last month. Anyone in the United States or Canada who has ever received a colorectal cancer diagnosis can sign up at JoinCountMeIn.org/colorectal to contribute their samples, medical records, and voice to colorectal cancer research

COVID-19 Vaccine Updates. In August, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized an additional dose of the COVID-19 vaccine for people who are moderately to severely immunocompromised--this includes CRC patients. Learn more about what this means for the CRC community.

Health Equity and Clinical Trials. People who are underrepresented in health care are generally likely to also be underrepresented in clinical research. Clinical trials are arguably the most important step to transition research into the real world, providing benefits across disease states, and improving health outcomes throughout various populations. Learn more about how the community can work together to address these challenges.
