This is the “entry” trial to several cutting-edge immunotherapy cancer trials that take place at the NIH (National Institutes of Health), in Bethesda.
Clinical trials there are free of charge for the patients, and the NIH covers transportation and lodging costs for the patient after the first visit, if accepted as participant. Help with lodging for caregivers/family is also available, so people from all States may be able to enroll.
The “Surgery Branch”, despite its name, is focused on adoptive cells transfer with TILs (tumor infiltrating lymphocytes). His Chief since 1974 is Dr Steven Rosenberg, pioneer of the development of immunotherapy and gene therapy; he’s usually the Principal Investigator of the trials.
The easier way to find if there are some trials at the Surgery Branch, for which a patient may qualify (at the present or even later during treatment), is contacting this trial.
Researchers get the information/ genetic profile to determine if some of TIL (tumor infiltrating lymphocytes) trials could be right for the patient, for example:

Criterios de inclusión
* CRITERIOS DE INCLUSIÓN:
Age >= 18 years.
Patient suspected of having, or with biopsy proven, malignant disease.
Patient is able to understand and willing to sign a written informed consent document.
Patient is being evaluated for treatment on an NCI-SB protocols.
Criterios de exclusión
CRITERIOS DE EXCLUSIÓN:
Women of child-bearing potential who are pregnant or plan to become pregnant because of the potentially dangerous effects of some of the screening procedures (e.g., nuclear medicine or other imaging scans) on the fetus.
