Each year at Call-on Congress, Fight Colorectal Cancer (Fight CRC) brings in speakers to talk about hot topics important to the colorectal cancer community. In this session, Dr. Deming will talk about what clinical trials are and how to find them. He will also cover hot topics in research so that you can be up to date on the latest breaking information from the clinical trial realm!

Dustin Deming, MD, is an associate professor with tenure at the University of Wisconsin, Department of Medicine and Oncology, and Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC). He is a gastrointestinal medical oncologist with a subspecialty focus in colorectal cancer and is a rectal cancer survivor himself. Talking about the end of life is hard. However, it’s incredibly important for everyone, not just those touched by cancer. In this session, Darah Curran will cover logistics, such as creating an advance directive and naming a health care power of attorney, but we will also discuss the emotional aspects of confronting this important topic.

Darah Curran is the Manager of Oncology Navigation and Counseling for several Inova Life with Cancer locations. She earned her Masters in Social Work with a clinical healthcare specialization from Catholic University. She has provided therapeutic support to both pediatric and adult oncology populations in inpatient and outpatient settings and has over 20 years of experience.
