Several advocates will come together to honor the late Tom Marsilje often known as “Dr. Tom” or the “Currently Incurable Scientist” through a virtual memorial where individuals and organizations are encouraged to share a picture of lighting a blue luminary bag or candle and tagging Tom’s public Facebook page (Tom Marsilje) and/or posting the photo on Twitter with the hashtag #Lights4theLion to memorialize him.
Posts are to be made anytime on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018.
Memorial shirts featuring the beloved lion painting by artist Jana Downing can be purchased at HonorTom.com; purchasers are encouraged to wear them in the photo posted for the virtual memorial.
Tom Marsilje was an outspoken, optimistic stage IV colorectal cancer patient and cancer researcher who, in the midst of fighting his own disease, became a blogger, speaker, panelist, model and advocate. He was committed to sharing his wealth of knowledge about cancer research and clinical trials to CRC patients around the world through easy-to-understand, patient-friendly explanations. (Check out the Clinical Trials finder we launched with him).
He passed away on November 14, 2017. The community will unite the weekend before Colorectal Cancer Awareness March kicks off to honor his legacy.
