The screening guidelines for colorectal cancer were updated by the US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) in June 2016. This webinar, Dr. Dennis Ahnen talks about the new guidelines and sheds light on the variety of screening options now available. In addition, this webinar will give an overview of colorectal cancer and the importance of screening.


About the Presenter

Dennis-Ahnen-md-colon-cancer-webinarDr. Dennis Ahnen is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He completed his Medical School Training at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan and completed a Medical Residency and Chief Residency at Hutzel Hospital in Detroit before going to the University of Colorado as a Fellow in Gastroenterology in 1977.

Dr. Ahnen is an active clinician and investigator. He is the Co-Director of the University of Colorado Hereditary Cancer Clinic; he provides consultative service to GI cancer families along with a genetic counselor in that clinic. Dr. Ahnen’s research interest is in understanding the process of colorectal cancer and its prevention. After over 30 years, Dr. Ahnen retired from his Staff Physician position at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Oct of 2014. He maintains an appointment as Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
