Story: “In 2015, I was self-employed, caring for a severely disabled spouse, raising a teenage daughter, and managing expensive private pay health insurance. I finally got a colonoscopy and was told, 'I never know the right way to put this so I will just be direct with you, we found something that needs immediate attention so go get your life in order, find a good medical oncologist and good luck.' That is where my journey began, full of mistakes.”
Advice: “Ask hard questions of family members, know screening guidelines, follow the guidelines, and never ignore any unusual symptoms.
