Colon - Stage I |
Age at Diagnosis: 52
My sister was diagnosed at age 40 with stage IV colon cancer (survivor). Little did I know then, that my screening should have begun right away at age 35.
At age 52, I was diagnosed with stage I colon cancer after my first routine colonoscopy. A CT scan later showed a second primary cancer in my kidney (stage II). They said it was likely that I had both for many years.
My diagnosis encouraged people close to me to get screened. I hope to encourage others to do the same. I am cancer-free today.
