Rectal - Stage III |
Age at Diagnosis: 50
I was diagnosed October 30, 2019, with stage III rectal cancer. I had a colonoscopy three years prior with one polyp removed. A medical professional found blood in my rectum during routine an annual exam and scheduled colonoscopy for October 2019. A mass/tumor was found in my lower rectum. I completed five weeks of chemo and radiation and had surgery at MD Anderson at the end of April 2020, where surgeon removed my rectum. A plastic surgeon reconstructed my rectum, and I had a colostomy.
