Colon - Stage IV |

Age at Diagnosis: 35

I was training for a 10k when I suddenly had severe stomach pains. Originally, I thought it was appendicitis or severe constipation. I ended up going to urgent care where I found out I had a bowel obstruction from several masses in my intestines. I ended up being admitted to the hospital where they found another mass outside my intestines, in my mesentery. After getting a colonoscopy and another biopsy I was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. We immediately started intense chemotherapy in hopes to stop any more spreading and growth. My tumors responded to the chemo and after 8 full rounds I was able to have my colorectal surgery and tumor removal. Since then, I have had clear scans and am hopeful to one day be cancer free.
