Colon - Stage IV |

Age at Diagnosis: 47

I had a colonoscopy in October 2024, after several months of on-and-off rectal bleeding, changes in bowel habits, and multiple primary care visits. Diagnosed with Stage IV oligometastatic CRC, sigmoid colon primary tumor & 2 resectable liver metastases – I was a candidate for “curative treatment”: surgical resection in Dec 2024 (clear margins and no nodal involvement), and aggressive adjuvant therapy with systemic chemo (FOLFOX) and hepatic artery infusion (HAIP) with FUDR. While my treatment is progressing well, for me this journey has highlighted the lack of predictive, high-quality data to guide treatment for mCRC – and this drives my interest in patient & research advocacy. I’ve also learned how vital patient education is: from understanding diagnosis and guidelines, to navigating treatment options.
