"I was training for a 10k when I suddenly had severe stomach pains. Originally, I thought it was appendicitis or severe constipation. I ended up going to urgent care where I found out I had a bowel obstruction from several masses in my intestines. I ended up being admitted to the hospital where they found another mass outside my intestines, in my mesentery. After getting a colonoscopy and another biopsy I was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. We immediately started intense chemotherapy in hopes to stop any more spreading and growth. My tumors responded to the chemo and after 8 full rounds I was able to have my colorectal surgery and tumor removal. 10 years. One incredible legacy. Jen Ganser-Bridges and her son recently completed the 10th Annual Climb for a Cure in honor of her husband, Chris Ganser, who was a co-founder of the climb and a dedicated advocate for the #colorectalcancer community. Climbing together, they carried his spirit, remembered his strength, and honored his life—fighting for more time for others.💙
Back-to-school season can be challenging—especially when your parent is facing cancer. Fight CRC advocate, Caroline, was in sixth grade when her dad was diagnosed with stage III rectal cancer. She's sharing three tips that helped her balance school, and her emotions during a time that felt anything but normal. Her hope? To help other kids feel a little less alone. 💙
