Promising progress for #colorectalcancer patients with a #BRAFV600E mutation. This mutation is known for being more aggressive, and historically the first line of treatment has been #FOLFOX chemo with Erbitux®. For BRAF V600E mutated CRC, response to standard chemo alone is poor, and adding Erbitux offered modest improvement and was the best available option for patients. A new study is changing the conversation. For #stageIV patients with this mutation, adding Braftovi® (encorafenib) and Erbitux® (cetuximab) to FOLFOX nearly cut the risk of death in half. When Bill (@neccancerbillt) was in his early 30s, he was in an exciting chapter of life. He was active, a new dad, and settling into family life. Then he started noticing blood in the toilet and feeling off. At first, doctors brushed it off as hemorrhoids, but Bill pushed for answers. A colonoscopy revealed neuroendocrine carcinoma of the rectum. Treatment began immediately. Chemo, radiation, clinical trials, immunotherapy, and a major surgery that left him with both a colostomy and a urostomy. Bill has faced nine lines of treatment and continues with PRRT and Lanreotide today. Through it all, his motivation is clear. He fights for his family, for his community, and for the life he continues to build.
