Colon - Stage II |

Age at Diagnosis: 34

The summer of 2023 I was experiencing abdominal cramping that would have me doubled over in pain. After a few months of persistent pain I decided to reach out to a G.I doctor, she booked me for an endoscopy and a colonoscopy – which I did not want, so I rescheduled it; because “they’re just going to tell me everything is fine” – so I thought. October 13th I had both scopes. The doctor said “the colonoscopy showed a growth that looked like cancer.” I could not believe the words that had just come out of her mouth. Pathology report came back a week later to say it was stage II. On November 6th I have 80% of my colon removed -no other treatment was necessary. While it has almost been 2 years I feel like I am still recovering from the trauma that is a cancer diagnosis.
