Age at Diagnosis:
In December 2022, bowel movements were difficult. I also was anemic. A colonoscopy was suggested by my PCP, but this could not be completed due to the tumor’s proximity to the anus.
My son was with me when the doctors revealed the diagnosis.
Signs and symptoms included ongoing change in bowel habits, stomach cramps/bloating/fullness, and unable to have a bowel movement (bowel obstruction) or constipation.
Treatments included chemotherapy and radiation, and side effects included fatigue, bowel irregularities, pain, and chemo brain.
It is not wise not to seek advice. Even if you do not have any specific symptoms, I will strongly advise screening, starting with the biomarkers. These are, however, not conclusive. At best, it may be indicative.
