Rectal - Stage IV |

Age at Diagnosis: 24

I was diagnosed with stage 3 (later restaged to stage 4) rectal cancer at age 24. My main symptoms were rectal bleeding, loss of appetite, bloating, weight loss, and a change in bowel habits. My treatment began with surgery where I became an ostomate. I then underwent 8 rounds of chemotherapy. In the next step of my treatment I had a hysterectomy preformed as well as a barbie butt procedure. After this, it was believed I was NED until January 2025 when a CT scan showed metastasis tumor growth in my lungs. I then had a lung wedge-resection to remove two of the tumors in my left lung. The next step was to complete cyber knife radiation on my right lung. I was declared NED on 7/8/2025. Cancer hit me at a time when I was just beginning to start the life I had carved out for myself. My adulthood has been delayed.
