Program Overview

The Catalyst Program Fight CRC supports grassroots activities and coalition-building at the state level that will lead to legislative and policy changes to advance colorectal cancer screening. We aim to foster a community of colorectal cancer champions across states to troubleshoot challenges and share best practices.

Program Goals

The Catalyst Program supports policy efforts that may range from passing legislation at the state level to working with major payors or employers in the state to provide coverage for screening. This can include:

  • Removing patient out-of-pocket costs for follow-up colonoscopies following a positive non-invasive colorectal cancer screening exam
  • Ensuring colorectal cancer screening coverage for screening to begin at age 45 for those with average risk, as recommended by American Cancer Society Guidelines (*may not be relevant in all states)
  • Additional “big P” or “small p” policies to increase access to colorectal cancer screening may be considered (for example, the work in Kentucky and California)

Eligibility

Applications will be accepted from non-profit organizations (501(c)(3), 501(c)(4)), universities, coalitions, and state governments.
