      FAQs

What is the Provider Finder and who is included on the list?

The Provider Finder is a list of colorectal cancer healthcare providers curated from Komodo’s technology. Patients looking for a doctor for colorectal cancer can search for an oncologist, radiation oncologist, surgeon, or gastroenterologist. For patients seeking second opinions, our extensive list of healthcare providers furnishes options that align within the travel areas you select. The patient can locate established providers by location, address, type, clinical or hospital name, experience, or clinical focus, so that they can customize and design a colorectal cancer treatment plan that they feel comfortable and confident with.
Patients should check with their insurance company to ensure the healthcare provider they choose is covered by their plan.

What areas/regions are covered by Provider Finder?

The Provider Finder covers the United States, including rural and populated areas. Whether you prefer to be treated close to home, or you are willing to travel for treatment, The Provider Finder will assist you in locating healthcare providers who are conveniently located to you or within the distance you are willing to travel. We recognize patients prefer to be treated locally, while others would prefer to travel regionally or even nationally for treatment or to participate in clinical trials.

How often is this list updated?

The Provider Finder is updated every quarter as new names are added to Komodo’s database. The quarters are January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1.

      How is the list updated?

Every provider or the institution they work for has consented to having their information listed through Komodo Health. This list is updated based on a provider’s clinical volumes and expertise, as well as their specialty (i.e., oncology, radiology, colorectal cancer surgery).

What if a provider isn’t listed?

Our providers are curated based on metrics and criteria, based on clinical volume (number of patients seen with colorectal cancer), expertise, or specialty, including the amount of colorectal cancer patients they see, and how involved they are in the scientific community. If you are searching for a provider that is not listed, it is because they have either not consented to being listed in Komodo’s database, or they do not meet criteria listed above.

Are providers removed from the list? Why?

Yes. Providers may be removed from the list if they have moved from the geographic area from within the location of the search feature, changed specialties, or retired, or if they have requested to be removed from the list.

Are all healthcare providers on Provider Finder taking on new patients?

Not necessarily. Please be sure to call the provider’s office to confirm they are seeing new patients. Also, check with your insurance to ensure the healthcare provider you have chosen is covered.
