Catalyst in Virginia
2022-2023 Catalyst Grantee
Fight CRC grantees in Virginia are working to educate Virginians about the importance of colorectal cancer screening. They are also working to advance legislation to remove out of pocket costs for a colonoscopy after an abnormal non-invasive screening test.
American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) Virginia supports volunteers in Virginia who are making fighting cancer a top priority for their elected officials. By sharing their personal cancer stories, ACS CAN volunteers help educate legislators on public policy issues that work towards preventing and treating cancer, and funding cancer research.
Virginia Colorectal Cancer Screening Coverage
Virginia state law requires each insurer in the state should provide coverage for colorectal cancer screening under any policy issued on and after July 1, 2000. Persons and tests covered are in accordance with the most recently published recommendations by the American College of Gastroenterology, in consultation with the American Cancer Society.
