Dr. John M. Inadomi is Professor and Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Utah, where he leads one of the largest academic departments in the Mountain West. A nationally recognized clinician, educator, investigator, and executive leader in gastroenterology, he has spent his career advancing population health through evidence-based care, research, and health-policy reform. As President of the American Gastroenterological Association, he drove national initiatives in research advocacy, clinical quality, and workforce equity, and played a key role in the policy change eliminating patient-borne costs for colorectal cancer screening. His research program in decision modeling, cost-effectiveness, and screening disparities—supported by two decades of continuous NIH funding as PI or co-PI—has helped shape national screening guidelines and care-delivery models. Alongside his scholarly and clinical contributions, Dr. Inadomi has mentored generations of physicians and researchers and led major institutional efforts in faculty development, research growth, and diversity, all guided by a commitment to health equity and high-impact, population-focused medicine.
