Dr. Samir Gupta, MD, is a board-certified gastroenterologist specializing in colorectal cancer screening and prevention, particularly for patients with family history or syndromes like Lynch syndrome and familial adenomatous polyposis. He is a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network Hereditary/High Risk: Colorectal, Endometrial, Gastric guideline panel, and a member of the US Multisociety Task Force on Colorectal Cancer. His research focuses on improving screening rates and risk stratification for patients with polyps, including randomized controlled trials and observational studies. Before joining UC San Diego Health, Dr. Gupta served on faculty at UT Southwestern Medical Center and Parkland Health and Hospital System in Dallas. He earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan and completed his internal medicine residency at the University of California, San Francisco, followed by fellowships in gastroenterology at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of California, San Francisco.
