Noticed bleeding on my stool in Feb/March 2024. Also had abdominal cramping depending on what I ate but nothing concerning to me. Went in to check the rectal bleeding and my primary doctor did a stool test in the office and it was negative for bleeding. Suggested still going for a colonoscopy and said it was probably just hemorrhoids. Found out a couple days after turning 41 I had a malignant mass in my colon and had surgery one month later followed with 6 months of Folfox. Finished 2/13/25. I was shocked and scared to say the least and scared for my then 6 year old daughter and husband and for our future. I am currently on surveillance with blood work and scans every 6 months. Anyone I can help with my story get necessary screening is a win. I’m also a nurse and know the importance of education and screening
