"Optimism changes everything."
My husband, Jacob, was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer in October 2025 at just 43 years old. Our youngest daughter was less than a month old, and we had three children: Knox (13), Atlas (2), and Jovi James (9 months). Jacob had symptoms but blamed them on stress, exhaustion, and life with young kids. He never told anyone he had blood in his stool until it was too late. He passed away exactly 60 days after his diagnosis. I’m sharing our story because if something doesn’t feel right, speak up. Tell someone. See a doctor. Don’t let embarrassment or pride keep you silent. If sharing Jacob’s story saves even one life and spares one family this heartbreak, then his story will continue to make a difference.
