"Don't stop making plans! We must live in the moment."
My only symptom was I couldn’t pass stool for a week. On day 7 I developed a stabbing pain on my right abdominal side. My daughter took me to the hospital where they attempted to perform a colonoscopy. I woke up from the procedure hearing people talk saying she has cancer. Surgery was immediate, where a tumor was removed and I was given a colostomy.
It was discovered the cancer spread to my abdominal lymph nodes. I immediately started crisis mode. My kids were 16 and 18 at the time. I immediately thought, they can’t lose their mama. Family and friends have given me strength since I started treatment that January 2023. Fast forward to 2026, I am stable, no further spreading. The colostomy was reversed. I am on maintenance chemo. I go every 2 weeks for treatment.
Whatever we do, we must not give up hope!
