Kathryn's story

I got my first colonoscopy on February 7. I found out February 9. My whole world changed.

I am also raising my 3-year-old granddaughter, and I was blessed to have my best friend helping during these last few months. I had surgery in April, and that’s when the stage changed from I to stage IIIa.

I did four rounds of chemo and pills. My last chemo day was August 16.

I get scans on November 1. Only claiming good results. My faith and my music has kept me strong. Music is a healer.

Signs and symptoms

Signs and symptoms included rectal bleeding or blood in stool, and fatigue.

Side effects

Side effects included fatigue, neuropathy, and chemo brain.

Kathryn's Advice

Please get screened! Back in 2015 I had an appointment to get one done and cancelled it.

Would this have happened if I had went and got it detected early? I questioned it many times, but hey it’s Gods plan. Because of my transparency during this, I have helped many that are going through it by sharing my journey and praying for others. Also many are going to get screened. What a beautiful thing!

I am a Nashville recording artist and Worship Leader, and my motto is:
Keep Dancin'
Keep Singin'
