"Find a way to get screened even if that is paying cash for it!"
We were healthy people. I ran half marathons, worked nights in an ER, had two little boys and was in my Masters program. My sister (41) had shoulder pain, went to the ER and was found to have colon cancer Stage 4. That is the day all of our lives changed. I was devastated. I was advised to have a colonoscopy and when I woke up the MD told me I needed a bowel resection due to hundreds of polyps. He said he was sure cancer was somewhere in there. I had a resection and was diagnosed with colon cancer, stage 1, age 38. We found out we have a genetic disease, JPS. Three of her four boys and one of my two also have this. The youngest, my son, with multiple polyps at age 15. My sister saved our lives and she has fought hard for hers. We are all still here, in remission, making plans and ready to Fight to end CRC!!
