"It is okay to have your feelings, just don't stay down in them."
My symptoms started with blood in my stools, then I started losing weight, and had pain in my abdomen. I was then referred for a colonoscopy and was told I had cancer by that physician. Scans came next and it was discovered that I also had a tumor in my liver. The fear of leaving my children, who were not even in high school was indescribable. My treatment plan was surgery for chemo port and colostomy-6 rounds of FOLFIRINOX-liver resection-28 rounds of radiation-surgery to remove the cancer in my colon, lymph nodes, colostomy reversal, and was given an ileostomy-6 rounds of clean up chemo. I have been NED since St. Patrick’s Day of 2025. I am still healing physically and emotionally, but am incredibly thankful to my medical team for making it so I can continue raising my daughters.
